TIE Connect Napkin Winner — name withheld

Name and category withheld pending the founder's announcement — an established platform with real users and a genuine network effect, engaged for an additive, surgical Velocity build rather than a from-scratch launch · Scoping in progress — engagement shape is additive and surgical (extend an existing production platform, do not rebuild it); full architecture to be published when the engagement and the founder's announcement are public

Day 31 — the napkin contest has a winner

If you were at TIE Connect this month, you saw the napkin contest: pitch the idea on a napkin, the room helps pick the one worth building. It had a winner, and the Velocity build for it is in scoping right now. This is one of five builds in the Day 31 epilogue — and the one whose name I’m deliberately leaving out.

What I can say

It isn’t a brand-new idea on a brand-new domain. It’s an established platform with real users, a genuine network effect, and a founder who has been compounding the same audience for years — long enough that the data and the network are the moat.

The engagement shape

The Velocity Process isn’t going to rebuild it. It’s going to add the one module that unlocks the next phase — additive, surgical, fast — and leave the parts that already work untouched. That’s a different shape of engagement than a 30-day cold start, and it’s the shape I expect more of Silverback’s work to take: not a rebuild, a precise extension that moves the platform into its next phase.

Why the name is withheld

We’re still scoping. The founder’s announcement is theirs to make, not mine. “Watch this space” is the honest status — and when it’s theirs to say, you’ll hear it from them first.
